This fine and rare Russian side table is made of Karelian burl birch with a variety of colorful marble specimens of diamond form set within an oval on the center of the table top. A candle slide is fitted into two of the sides of the table and a shaped platform stretcher adds movement to the rectilinear form, while discrete gilded bronze mounts complete the decoration on this fine table. Similar tables with inlaid marble tops were made in Russia in the 1830s.
