Rare George I Mirror Glass Picture with Birds on Branches
England, circa 1710-1720
Engraved mirror glass and ebonized parcel gilded wood
H: 13 1/4 W: 11 1/4 inches

#JF001245

This English George I period engraved mirror glass picture depicts birds resting on branches of a tree, within its original ebonized and parcel gilded frame. Engraved decoration on mirrors was popular in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth century in England, but an independent engraved mirror glass picture, such as this, is a rare survival.
