This fine and rare mid eighteenth century German, probably Dresden, rococo bombé-form commode is made of figured walnut on an oak core, with a shaped and molded top above three drawers with elaborate gilded bronze drawer pulls and key hole escutcheons and with side and feet mounts. It is an excellent example of German furniture made in the French taste that reaches the level of design and craftsmanship of the Paris made pieces, yet infuses a marked Germanic individualism, in this case the use of highly figured walnut.
